Tired of Being Held Hostage in My Own Home!!!

So as I am writing this a guy selling Kirby's is in our home. They came to our door when I was working and needing to start making dinner. They acted like they were our new neighbors wanting to welcome us to the neighborhood. They asked to step inside the door to show us something and bam they were selling a Kirby vaccum. I told them that we just bought a Rainbow vaccum and are happy and NOT interested. Boy are they persistent. Persistent to the point that I was being flat down rude to them to try to get them out of my house. Finally, Omar came over and I told them that if he wanted to watch the demo that was fine, but I didn't want to because although their promise was 5 minutes it has been 30 minutes and they are still here. Omar what a sucker! Dinner is now ready, I am hungry and I just want to eat and this guy to LEAVE. I am so sick of all these salesman keeping me hostage in my home! Am I the only one out there that feels that way.

Housewarming Party

So we had our housewarming party. It was a lot of fun. My mom and sister came up from Kissimmee for our party and were very helpful. We invited all the neighbors on our street to come as well as some people from church, and work. There was a little over 20 people that came. There were about 15 other people that were supposed to come that didn't show. Overall we had a nice time. I didn't take pictures as I normally do, so there are not as many pictures. We had fully loaded ice cream sundaes and banana splits for our guests. We had pumpkins for pumpkin carving, and Rockband going on. Omar's pumpkin that he carved - isn't he talented?
The pumpkin that I carved - we cheated by doing them the day before. This was the first pumpkin I did by myself and the first time carving pumpkins as a couple.
My mom wanted to take a picture of us at the tree in our yard so we could later look back and see how much it had grown.

No he is not going to the bathroom in the lake...this is the view from our house the night of our party.

Omar helped them.

Christmas Carol Train

Disney's Christmas Carol Train came in town.

Of course it wouldn't be a Disney event without a Disney line. What a great greeting when you arrive - a 4.5 hour wait sign.
Here was one section of the weaving line. Disney is so great at hiding their lines so you don't really think there is much more and then...BAM they hit you with a whole other weaving section and THEN another! They have perfected the art to lines.
Notice the change from light to dark. The event was to stop at 7pm and we didn't leave until after 9 pm and we got there at about 6pm. There was still hours more of people to get through the train! Man can Disney market their events and movies.
Outside part of the train
Omar with a time period costume
Charles Dicken's own handwriting of the book
Original Christmas Carol story books
Clay molds of the voices of the actors themselves
Models is how they helped design the movie
There were models for everything
Look how intricate these models are inside. Amazing!
Us inside the train. It only took us about 3 hours to get to the train. The ironic thing is that I would never wait even half that long for a ride at Disney and this was a lot more lame. Ah well...I guess I can say that I saw the train.

Honor Rows Game

This is the cheerleader Omar liked

The weather was so crazy - freezing and then sweltering hot.
I made Omar be heathen with me and go to the Jacksonville Jaguars football game on Sunday October 18th against the Rams. I was required to attend for work because I weazled my way out of it last year. As most all of you know, I really dislike football. With Big Brothers Big Sisters we have a program that the matches can participate in called Honor Rows. If the kids fill out a packet with goals and service projects completed they can attend a Jaguars football game for free with their Big. I must say that the way it is all completed is quite torturous. I do however think it is great that the kids can attend a professional football game for free as many of them have never had such an opportunity before. We ride a bus together, and then line up like in school again to enter the arena. We have special seating that we are required to sit in. It is really difficult to get out and we have to sign in and out of our section if we want to even go to the bathroom. I really did not watch much of the game, but just spent most of the time talking to people. It was a good thing that I brought Omar along with me. In order for a child to go to the bathroom they had to be accompanied by an adult chaperone of the same sex (even if they are your own kids!). Omar had bathroom duty for several chidren. The cheerleaders came up and the kids were able to get autographs. Omar of course got his shirt autographed. He is just like the kids. The only good thing is that it was the first I have actually seen the Jags win!!!

Dreaded Catch-up

So my suegra (mother-in-law) called tonight to ask why I have yet to update our blog. The past few weeks have been very busy with moving in, early early work meetings, prepping for our little housewarming party and COUPONING! Okay so maybe couponing is the real reason. I went to this class with this lady who does the website www.southernsavers.com and it was amazing. I would use coupons before, but I guess I really never understood the ART to couponing. So now I am starting. She teaches you everything on her website (which is free by the way - for people out west, I am sure there is a similar site out there for you). I finally made my first purchase couponing. Let me share with you what sort of savings I was able to do...(please keep in mind that I am just starting my coupon collection so I could have saved more if I had been doing it a while longer).

I bought....
8 Healthy Choice Cafe Steamer Frozen meals
2 boxes Honey Bunches of Oats Pecan Cereal
4 large boxes of General Mills cereals
6 Campbells chunky soups
2 boxes quaker chewy granola bars
2 cans organic tomato sauce
4 del monte tomato cans
4 - 2 Liter Coke Sodas
2 bags doritos
Tide 2x downy detergent
for $36 - yes that is right for 36 DOLLARS!
I had a savings of $73.96
$13.70 in vendor coupons
$16.00 in store coupons and
$44.26 in advertised special savings!

Now you see why I have joined the coupon world!

Anyhow on with the catch up for the rest of our life the past few weeks.

Home Sweet Home - OUR home

Yesterday was the big day, moving day. I took a personal day from work so we can move into our house. My mom drove up and she helped unpack. Thank goodness Omar was able to recruit our friend Victor to come help move. He was a lifesaver. I must say that I am still sore and my feet hurt, and I didn't even do much.

The truck Omar rented was HUGE as you can tell. I didn't take a picture with it full, but lets just say that there was still open space with how big it was. Besides organizing and unpacking my books, we are all moved in except for our clothes. Our clothes are still at the apartment. We have to go and get them soon, I only have clothes to last me until Monday. Our house is perfect for us. We are going to go slow with furnishing it the way we want to. So for any visitors, you are welcome to come, but there will not be many places to sleep. We have 3 empty bedrooms, 1 queen size air matress, 1 twin size air matress, 1 cot, 2 sleeping bags and a tent.

My hubby was hard at work even prior to the move. He installed our 7.1 surround sound system. Who even needs that?! Oh, wait we do. Also he installed intercoms in every room and bathroom as well as an intercom/doorbell at the front door. He painted our bedroom and bathroom so we could move in (these will be the only painted rooms until we figure out what we really want to do decorating wise). What a great man I married. Right now, he is working on putting together his new grill that we just bought. Life is now complete.
mounting the TV and setting up the subwoofer.

This is tonight's 2 hour project. Putting together the WHOLE grill. That would be a week long project for me if I was put in charge

Missed Omar's GOLDEN Birthday

For those who do not know what a golden birthday is, it is when you turn the age that your birth date falls on. So Omar's Golden Birthday was this year, his 28th birthday because he turned 28 on the 28th of September. You are supposed to receive 28 golden items for your golden birthday.

Well...I didn't technically miss his birthday, as in forgot about it. But Omar was down in Orlando for his birthday working and did not get back until late on his birthday night (Monday).

It was a long stressful weekend as we were supposed to close on our house on the 25th, then it was supposed to be on his birthday, and since he was out of town it moved to Tuesday.

Before we knew he was working out of town and were to close on the house I was going to do a really cute little birthday thing with our house, but that idea was quickly destroyed since we did not close. I did not buy him a gift because I figured we would be buying stuff for our house like a grill and lawnmower - those are male gifts right?!

I talked one day about how I was thinking about buying him a sonicare toothbrush which he has been wanting. Of course the night of his birthday he asked where his toothbrush was. Oh boy...what a failure of a wife.

So here are your 28 birthday items (a work in progress still)...
we are married
he just put intercoms in our house
he wants a dog
he at here on his birthday
he wants a new tv
he just put a surround sound system in our house
he used to have a silverado
he has a PS3
he loves football
he wants a salt water fish tank
he loves the 49ers

Ah well...HAPPY 28th BIRTHDAY BABE!
