Jaguars Game

So I was going through our pictures on our camera and realized I never added in about the Jaguars games that we went to LAST football season (2008). We went and saw the Titans and one other game together. Omar went with our friend Victor to see the Colts game. The Jags game was both Omar and I's first time going to a professional football game. Omar loved it and I was fine with going even though football is really not my thing. Check out our cute pictures!!!

Our friends Jeff and Erica Foster came to the Titan's game with us.

After the game close-up. You can't tell, but it was FREEZING outside

Omar - happy in his football element

Jaguars lost as they typically did last season. Omar was happy becuase the Titans are his favorite team.

Our Seats were definetly up at the top but for like $10 a ticket you can't beat it!

The Jags getting riled up

Going into the game - we are so CUTE

First Time Homebuyers - That's US!!!

So this is totally the house we will be closing on in about 60 days!!! How exciting! It really just fell in our lap too. It just came available today and was marked way low since it is the end of the month and SEDA was hoping to make a deal. Our home is located off I-95 and 210 in St. Johns County. It is a great area and a smaller neighborhood (only about 100 homes). Our house is full stucco and has a water view (nice for retention pond) with a preservation lot thing as well. Omar and I both really like the place and felt good about getting it. We already have put our binder down. It is crazy how this worked out. We have been looking and looking and I guess new home was the way for us to go. This will be a great starter home and we really do not have concerns about being able to resell it in the future. Our first home. It is interesting because I have never bought anything large - not even a bike or car...I'm stoked. We will have extra rooms for visitors! Everyone should come and visit, we are in a great location not far from Jacksonville or the beach! When I take the camera to our house I will get pictures. Our new address is 225 Clear Creek Court. Isn't that so cute?

Boys are Weird-O's

I totally should have taken a picture. Now that I think about it, the dead body might still be in our garbage. Omar got home 2 days ago from Pennsylavnia for a trip he went on to look at a water well driller. Yesterday morning I wake up and on our kitchen counter is green apple dish soap everywhere. I call Omar over to ask what in the world happened because our dish soap dispenser was empty and I knew that I did not make that mess. He responded, "Oh there was a cockroach." What is wrong with boys??? Who takes soap and just squirts it all over the kitchen trying to soak a cockroach. He left for work and I started picking up the garbage that he left around and pulled a paper towel from the garbage disposal. Low and behold, what jumps out at me?! The cockroach!!! He didn't even kill it. I squished the cockroach and put it in the trash. Later I ask him why he just didn't kill it. He expressed that he was sad that I killed it becuase his plans were to watch it get chopped up in the garbage disposal. When I asked him about it he just responded, "What do you expect, I'm a guy."

A Vintage Day Out

So my good friend since forever, Erin Pratt, came and visited Jacksonville. She was our second visitor in general, and Omar and I's first visitor in over a year since moving to our current apartment. I was not able to spend a lot of time with her because of work obligations, but she found plenty to keep herself busy in wonderful Jacksonville. We did get to spend an afternoon together and decided to just be adventurous! We took the Skyway (which was an adventure all its own trying to learn how to even access the thing) which runs to different parts of downtown Jacksonville and is only 50 cents to ride - what a steal!!! So we rode all over Jacksonville and then walked around the Landing. We tried to take a Trolley over to the riverside area but realized after waiting about 25 minutes (The trolleys come every 10 minutes) that they had stopped operating for the day. So we drove to Riverside and 5 Points. We ate at an Italian restaraunt that was really good, lots of food, and super cheap (ex. HUGE lasagna for $4). Then we looked at all the neat stores. We had the most fun in the Vintage clothing store.
Both Erin and I are NOT vintage people, but the store manager was such a sport and so good at picking out outfits. Erin had the perfect vintage body. Mine...not so much (pictured are the different outfits I tried on). If I was able to get something over my chest, it then would not fit over my booty. It was hilarious and just a lot of fun. They did happen to find me a mumu looking outfit (as you can see in teal). No thanks...which is why I didn't buy it. Time to hit up the gym again. We had a blast!!!

Birthday with Omar

So Omar and I were able to celebrate my birthday on Tuesday. There is a place called the Alahambra dinner theater that lets the person who has a birthday go for free on their birthday. Since they are not open on Mondays that let me go on Tuesday when we would be back in town. The show that we went and saw was Annie. The whole shabang is kind of pricey. For Omar's ticket it cost $50, which with my ticket being free, it isn't that bad of a deal, $25/pp for dinner buffet and a show is not really beatable. The show was actually well done. We saw Annie and I think they did a good job. I guess there are only 5 dinner theaters left in the U.S. and we have one of them in Jacksonville. The food was decent, I wouldn't go for just the food though. They had roast beef, chicken, green beans, scalloped potatoes, rice, corn-on-the-cob, some sort of seafood dish, mac and cheese, coleslaw, rolls, salad. It was set up buffet style and there was also a desert bar with yellow cake, jello, 2 types of pudding, fruit salad, and peach cobbler.
It was interesting because you order your tickets in advance and are given specific seats. I was surprised our seats were so good, front and center really. The hostess sat us at a table that sits 4 and told us to sit next to each other because another coupule would be sharing the table with us. We thought it was a little weird but figured that it would be fine to get to know another couple. I was starving and ate some salad but saved a lot of it so the other couple could eat salad too. They came and sat down and were completely shocked that they would be sitting with us. Omar and I tried to be friendly and asked them questions about themselves and offered them salad to eat. They would not touch anything including their waters. They were the most akward people and completely dull. We finally were given permission to go and get our food from the buffet and when we came back the guy was sitting there with his plate and told us that they were trying to see if they could sit at their own table since things are akward. I told him that we both did not feel akward, but they were fine to move if they wanted to, no hard feelings. They sat somewhere else and we had more room and were much more comfortable for the show. It was an interesting evening to say the least. But we had a nice time.

My 26th Birthday!

So Omar was supposed to have off for my birthday and we had plans to go to Aquatica, Sea World's new water park that opened last year. I have never been to Aquatica before. Since we were in Orlando anyway for Kelly's homecoming I figured it would be a good way to spend my birthday. Of course, his job scheduled him to work anyhow and so he is working. So I decided to use our 2 free tickets that Omar got for us from a friend to go with Erin, one of my best friends. However, due to the weather we did not end up going. So these are pictures of what Aquatica and my birthday could have been like (yes that is a dolphin - one of the rides takes you underwater where the dolphins swim around - cool huh. Instead I opted to just chat with my friend and then went with her, my mom, and sister Kelly to lunch at Pei Wei. I really do like Pei Wei and wish that they had one in Jacksonville. I think my favorite dish there is the Pad Thai. I however did enjoy one time the Mongolian Beef (it tastes just like P F Changs I think for just a fraction of the price)that I tried there one time. Kelly ordered the Spicy Korean chicken which was also good. I have also tried their Japanese Terriyaki Bowl (without fail my mom orders it every time)as well as the Thai Coconut Curry. I love curry, this curry was only okay. Over all it was a relaxing and nice birthday. We will make the trek some other day to Aquatica.

My dog died

Smokey our black lab that we have had for 13 years died on Thursday. I was not at home when it happened, but it was pretty dramatic occurrence. He has been an amazing dog. We found out a few weeks ago that he had cancer, but he has not appeared to suffer at all so we were going to keep him alive until he appeared to be in pain. Thursday morning he went outside like normal and came back in and fell down. He then tried to crawl across the floor like he was in major pain. He finally was able to stand up and couldn't sit back down. My mom was calling everyone to come home. My mom then saw that Smokey went outside to go to the bathroom and he did not come when she called. My mom and sister Kelly found him laying in the ground unable to move. They were able to get him inside and he just lay on his bed. A few minutes later he was gone.
There was no dog like Smokey. Everybody loved him. All the neighbors knew him and would give him treats. Smokey never barked, would jump on people, go on any furniture and he also knew what rooms he was not allowed in and never went in the rooms. Smokey could sit, lay down, and jump up for treats. Smokey was the best dog.

Kelly's Homecoming

Today, Kelly finally gave her homecoming talk in our Kissimmee Ward. It is odd that she had to wait for so long since she has been home about 2 months now. It was a really nice talk that she gave about conversion. She has always been a good writer and speaker. It was nice that some of our family were able to come. I am pretty sure that they have never been to our church before. My Uncle Marshall, Aunt Mary, cousins Ben and Megan came. Also, our friends, Jeanne and Paul, and Sheila Woods came too. My cousins Micah, Aaron, Nicole and their 2 boys came too. We went and had lunch at my mom's house afterward. I planned to take a picture of everyone, and forgot.

4th of July

We spent 4th of July in Orlando. I was really hoping to spend it in Jacksonville together, but Omar had to work in Orlando and I didn't want to be alone. Omar's good friend Justo was celebrating his birthday and his son's birthday so we went to a BBQ at their house. After that we went and visited Omar's family and then went to another BBQ at one of Omar's best friend's house, David. It was SO hot outside. Later that evening we went over to the house of my friend Erica's grandparents where we watched the Kissimme Fireworks. I have lived in Kissimmee my whole life and I only remember seeing those fireworks as a small child with my dad. I am not sure how old I was or anything. The fireworks were actually pretty good. The mosquitos were not so good. I had over 20 bites on my legs and arms.
